Summary:
Biopolymers have been used in developing a 100% bio-based binder as an alternative eco-friendly geotechnical construction material. Biopolymers are organic polymers that have been used in fields such as food, agriculture, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, however it has never been applied in the field of construction till now. The microscopic interaction, feasibility, and strengthening mechanism of microbial biopolymers for soils has been applied and verified for the first time in the world. Construction methods and equipments are being developed for the commercialization of this technology.
